Great news continues….The number of people seeking U.S. unemployment benefits fell to a four-year low last week. Employers are hiring at a healthy pace and the downward trend in unemployment applications is a promising sign ahead of job growth. Economists forecast that employers added 210,000 jobs last month, although they expect the unemployment rate was unchanged for the second straight month.  “We believe that the economy has entered a more self-sustaining phase of the recovery with stronger job creation,” said John Ryding, an analyst at RDQ Economics, in a note to clients.  Hiring is picking up as the economy is showing signs of steady growth! Even consumer spending jumps more and more each month.  That’s helping several retailers, restaurants, hotels and others including the housing industry.

Founders Day is the annual celebration of Johns Creek’s official incorporation on Dec. 1, 2006. The city observes the anniversary on the first Saturday in December,with a weeklong series of events. This is Johns Creeks 5th anniversary this December! The weeklong celebration unites the young city, in remembering the efforts of all those who worked so hard to make the incorporation a reality and it’s progress.  It is also a fun-filled way to kick off the holiday season.

The festivities will include a parade on Dec. 3rd.  The parade has grown to more than 80 units and thousands of participants, including a NASCAR racer, Shriner clowns, local high school clubs and bands, and colorful floats from area businesses, organizations and neighborhoods.  Santa Claus arrives at the end of the parade, riding atop a vintage fire engine. He’s then whisked away to a party in his honor at Johns Creek High School, to pose for photos.  Monday,Dec. 5th Tree Lighting of a  30-foot Christmas tree and a giant dreidel with the Mayor.
